I’ve known about The Cranberries for a long time (my mom and dad listened to them in the 90s), but I have never gotten truly invested in their music.
The current album I am listening to is To the Faithful Departed (1996).
I recently got interested in this album because I was listening to The Last Podcast on the Left, which had a two-part series on the murder of John Lennon.
This reminded me of the song I Just Shot John Lennon.
As a fan of The Beatles, I am both horrified and intrigued by this specific historical event.
John Lennon was killed by Mark David Chapman on December 8, 1980 in front of Lennon’s home in New York, NY on the way home from the recording studio.
Mark David Chapman shot 5 bullets, 4 of which hit Lennon.
In I Just Shot John Lennon, at the very end of the song, you can hear 5 haunting gunshots.
As Dolores O’Riordan sings:
“It was a sad and sorry and sickening night.”
